Married to Wilber G. Gunnell of Casscoe, they had five children. Mary Louise (Hartz), Margaret (Pettigrew), Nelson, Thomas and Carolyn Peterson. They also had sixteen grandchildren:

Margaret and Bob Pettigrew: Debbie (Krautstrunk) and Danny.
Nelson and Judy: Duke and Chris.
