Maxine L. Gunnell, 88, of Little Rock, formerly of Stuttgart, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Brookdale Chenal Heights in Little Rock.
Maxine was born Oct. 20, 1931 in Chicago, Ill., to Solomon and Delphina Michalski Lance. Maxine had a great devotion to the rescue and rehabilitation of all of God’s furry little creatures. She could never turn away a stray. She also spent many years actively involved in service of the community she loved so well. Her passion for banking spanned 45 years during which she took part in many changes within the industry. Beginning as a teller for The Peoples National Bank in Stuttgart and working her way up through auditing and eventually into compliance for BancorpSouth. She truly enjoyed working with the people she served in her community throughout her career.
A memorial service, under the direction of Turpin Funeral Home, will be planned as the current health concerns allow for safe gatherings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Shiloh Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1425, Stuttgart, Arkansas 72160, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
