
Essie Margarete Thompson, 105, of Stuttgart, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Hospice Care Inpatient Center in Little Rock.
Mrs. Thompson was born Oct. 8, 1901, in Superior, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur Mac and Hattie Mae Wylde Smith. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Thompson; her parents; two sons, George Thompson and Donald Thompson; one brother, Thello Smith; and an infant daughter.
Survivors include one son, Harold Thompson of Napa, Calif.; two daughters, Bettye McKnight of North Little Rock and Pattie Berry and husband Brooks of Alexander; a niece, Rachel Merritt of Heber Springs; a nephew, Travis Smith and wife Edith of Heber Springs; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart, with Rev. George Rook officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
